Every website should have a page or two stuffed with useful and interesting well... stuff.
When uploading images to your website, size is important. Uploading that file which is many many megs in size means that the visitor to your website may have to wait a long time to view it. The image may be so large not just in file size but in dimensions that it just does not display correctly or as intended.
I recommend that a file which is just a basic image which is part of a page, then below 60kb and maybe no more than 400 x 500 pixels will be ok. If its part of a gallery then a larger image say 100kb or so. The gallery module you may be using is likely to do some resizing of its own and create a thumbnail etc.
Many people do not have a program to do all this resizing etc. So to help Google has a handy program to download http://picasa.google.com/ just click download and then install. Picasa has other features that may be useful. Not to leave you Apple uses out there is a mac version http://picasa.google.com/mac
Two articles one on how to add a bit more security to your laptop if it gets lost or stolen
Also I have written a short article on protecting yourself form the nasty stuff out there. Please do take note. |
